Mattituck Farm Market OPEN DAILY (9-6pm) with Bedding Plants
Barnyard Adventure OPENING May 7th. Pig Races & Pony Rides start Memorial Day Weekend.
* Can I bring my pet(s)?
No. While we understand the appeal of bringing your beloved pets on a country outing, for safety of all of our guests and for hygenic reasons, we ask that you leave your pets at home and give your attention to the many Barnyard Animals on our farm. Exceptions are made for assistance dogs. Please note- there is not reliable shade in the parking lots for your dog to stay in your vehicle.
* is there any difference between your farms?
Unlike franchise stores that provide a predictable uniformity between all locations, each of our farms (Mattituck, Jamesport and Riverhead) offers a unique country experience. For a guide to our Fall Festival Activities at each farm, click here
Mattituck provides our largest Farm Market, Country Cafe, the NEW Barnyard Adventure with Pig Races (May - Oct.), and Wine Tasting Barn. Berry Picking is available across the street from the farm-market. In the fall, a u-pick pumpkin field , Concession Stand, and Wizard of Oz Corn Maze, and Hayride is also across the street from the Farm Market (South Side of Sound Ave.)
Jamesport has a Farm Market, Country Cafe, and pastoral setting with a pond to enjoy a quiet country atmosphere. The Wild West Maze Adventure, our largest maze experience, is a highlight of our Fall Festival at this location.
Riverhead farm is only open for the Fall Festivals (Sept 18-Oct. 31) which feature our "Lord of the Rings" themed Corn Maze and Night Maze (every Fri & Sat. in Oct.). No Farm Market is at this location, however a line of our more popular concession Items are available at the NEW Honey-Crisp Cafe- (Roasted Corn, Home-Made Apple Cider Donuts, Candy Apples, etc.). Apple Picking will be available in 2011.
* Can I bring my own food/wine for a picnic?
No. We strive to create a park-like country atmosphere for you and your family to enjoy, however we are not a park- we are a family owned and operated business. Our Country Cafes provide tasty treats for you to enjoy while you are here. Our Tasting Barn (Mattituck Farm) has a selection of quality, award-winning wines for you to enjoy on or off our premises.
Outside food IS allowed when renting our Party Barn facility.
* Is there anything for my young child/teenager to do on the farm?
Yes! Relaxing outdoor games & areas provide a setting for all to enjoy the simple beauty of nature. The Country Cafe has roasted corn and other tasty treats to appeal to even the pickiest eaters in your group :) The Barnyard Adventure is 15 acres of FUN, complete with animal exhibits, pedal carts, hedge maze (NEW), pig races, and much more!
* Do you offer a group discount for Admissions to the Barnyard Adventure?
Yes! We do for 20 or more. Tickets must be pre-purchased. For group discounts to the Barnyard Adventure please call (631) 609-7270.
* When are the Fall Festivals?
Fall Festivals are held every weekend from Sept 18- Oct and are open for all major holidays during that time.
* Are your pumpkins grown in the field, do we get to pick them 'off the vine'?
Yes! Our pumpkins are grown on premises-- early in the pumpkin picking season (late Sept- early Oct) you might actually be pulling/twisting the pumpkins off the vine (or you could bring a pair of pliars to help). Later in the season, the vine naturally 'dies' and falls off the pumpkin.
* When it rains does it get muddy at Harbes Family Farm & Vineyard?
Most surfaces here are dirt. Some walking areas are gravel, but nothing is paved. Any time water mixes with dirt you will have mud. Depending how long and how hard it has rained determines how muddy conditions are here at the farm. Come dressed accordingly if the weather has been wet. If severe, some activities ( Hayride, Mini-Train, and/ or Mazes) may be cancelled due to muddy conditions.
* Do I need to bring a flashlight for the Night Maze?
We recommend that you bring your own flashlights when coming for our Nightt Maze. However if you should forget to bring one, we do sell them and you can purchase one when you arrive. We also have cool glow products available for purchase.
* Do you have apple-picking?
Harbes Farm & Orchard (Riverhead) has a 5 acre orchard that will be ready for apple-picking in 2011!
* If the weather looks threatening, how can I find out if the farm activities are open?
On our homepage, we have created a 'special announcement' ribbon. When you see the ribbon, located directly under our name, weather related cancellations as well as any special offers for the day will be posted there. (Don't see the ribbon? That means everything is going on as scheduled!)
